Island Wildlife

One of the great things about Kauai is that the wildlife is so accessible to the munchkins. Some places you visit you have to go to a zoo to see the local flora and fauna, here you are already smack dab in the middle of it.

Today all we did was go down to the baby beach at Poipu and we saw a little sand crab, a monk seal, lots of rosters and hens, a one clutch of baby chicks, and fist sized black crabs. Lover Man is such a teacher at heart he always pulls Little Girl over to show her things and tell her what it is and if it's safe, let her hold it or touch it.

We also saw a daddy longlegs spider, a huge bumble bee (no seriously, not to be gross but it was so big I could clearly see it having a bowel movement), and a wasp. I'm scared of all of these things but I don't want little girl to be so I always try to ooh and ahh at Lover Man's teaching lesson before going to tend to something on the other side of the house. :)
